Alcoholics have AA, ‘Almost Alcoholics’ need help too but don’t know where to turn.

People drink alcohol because they are sad, angry, or alone. That is both a good reason and a bad reason.

Drinking alcohol when experiencing these feelings is an attempt at solving a problem. Then it becomes a habit, perhaps a daily habit and then there is a feeling of dependency.

This category of drinkers is referred to as ‘Almost Alcoholics’ a phrase coined by Joseph Nowinski a Psychologist in the New England area.

“These Almost Alcoholics are not ready for 30-day treatment nor are they the type to go to AA, they just want to control their intake, not to stop forever. They want to be in control of WHY they drink and make better choices. Hypnosis is a way to easily accomplish that. Drinking alcohol is no different from eating ice cream every night, or smoking all day, or taking anti-depressants,” explains Dallas hypnotist Valerie Grimes.

I work with clients like Dan who drank to calm his anger towards his co-workers, Cliff because of stress from his relationship, Bill because of worries over job loss, Lisa because she did not feeling worthy, Nancy to deal with worry, and Emily because of a learned behavior, she watched mom use it to deal with a difficult problem.

These people are not alcoholics they just need to deal with the source of the problem that is leading to drinking and that is what I do with hypnosis.  These people want to be in control and stop the daily habit before it leads to the next category—alcoholism.
