Addicted to Caffeine?

Addicted to Caffeine? There is a name for that: Caffeine Use Disorder.

I recently read an article on some research about the withdrawal symptoms a person encounters when they quit caffeine.  If you feel you are indeed addict to caffeine, one way to find out is to try and stop it and see how you respond.

A true addiction is when a person encounters difficultly (emotionally, mentally and physically) ending the substance. In other words, if it is problematic to stop you probably are addicted.

I think most people know you get headaches when stopping caffeine, but I was disappointed in the articles lack of listing the other withdrawal symptoms.  What are some that you are familiar with?

The missing information and the set up that there is an official diagnosis for the addiction: Caffeine Use Disorder really sets up in one’s mind the seemingly impossibility that they can beat it. I thought the article was negative and lacked substance, maybe you feel that way about this one too.

What i understand about how the mind works is that  when we expect something to be difficult and that we have a disorder, it usually makes the task (quitting caffeine) harder than it has to be.

So, if you want to get off caffeine or reduce it, think about the benefits of not having it in your system,  weight reduction is a big one, feeling more at ease is another, as opposed to how crappy you will feel.
