sleep and alcoholism

Are you drinking alcohol in an attempt to fall asleep?

Sleep, alcoholism and hypnosis: hypnosis naturally brings you back into balance so you can sleep without the booze.

Drinking to solve life’s problems like to fall asleep easier seems like an irrational idea. And it is, but it is an acceptable subconscious idea because the subconscious is set up to avoid pain and seek pleasure.  So when adults are having problems sleeping many seek relief in a drink of alcohol.  But it really is a subconscious attempt make things better. However it becomes a dependent pattern.

One way to cut back on the amount of alcohol you drink would be to address some of the areas that are out of balance and causing sleep issues.

Develop a practice of “Good Sleep Hygiene”

Please Follow These Simple Instructions for 30 days and notice if your sleep patterns are worse, the same, or better.

1. Go to bed at the same time every night.
2. Do use hypnosis recordings or ambient sounds music, rather than TV or music to fall asleep. Avoid TV or
movies 1 hour before bed to rest your central nervous system.
3. No alcohol, caffeine or water 2 hours before bed.
4. Avoid spicy foods for dinner, if they give you indigestion.
5. Before getting into bed, have a routine, such as stretching, deep breathing, reflecting on the day thru a journal.  It is very beneficial to move your body and release your mind, so your mind won’t keep you awake and your body won’t be restless.
6. Watch your language. Notice how you talk about the lack of sleep. What you focus your attention on is what you will experience. Tell yourself during the day, that it is easy for you to fall asleep, even if you don’t yet believe it. Remember: You sleep when you expect to sleep.

Creating a new sleep hygiene program, hypnosis sessions to dissolve triggers and to manage stressful life situations along with an integrated medical approach is proving helpful for many of our clients reduce their dependency on alcohol.
